Make Communities Better.

STV’s Land Development team in Owings Mills is growing and seeking a mid‑career Landscape Architect who wants to do meaningful work—projects that shape campuses, neighborhoods, and commercial environments across the Baltimore Metropolitan region and beyond. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with civil engineers, architects, and fellow landscape architects to deliver thoughtful, buildable designs from concept through construction. If you enjoy balancing design creativity with technical rigor—and want to grow your influence on complex, high‑profile projects—this is an opportunity to do exactly that.

Why

This Role Is Compelling

This position is designed for a professional who is confident in their foundation and ready to step into a larger role—one that balances design leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration.

In This Role, You Will
  • Play a key role on high‑visibility projects spanning education, mixed‑use, housing, commercial, institutional, and infrastructure‑related development
  • Work side‑by‑side with engineers, architects, and project managers in a fully integrated design process
  • Apply both design thinking and technical rigor to solve real‑world site challenges
  • Continue to refine your leadership skills through mentorship from senior landscape architects and professional engineers
  • Build credibility with clients and agencies while shaping projects that will be built
What You’ll Do
  • Lead and contribute to site and landscape design from early concepts through construction
  • Prepare presentation materials, permit packages, construction documents, and construction support for land development, building, and transportation projects
  • Develop designs using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Micro Station, with opportunities to influence both concept and execution
  • Conduct site investigations, inventories, and analysis that inform clear, defensible design decisions
  • Design sustainable, resilient landscapes, including on‑structure podium and urban environments, that enhance the outdoor user experience
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and feasibility studies
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to align design intent with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, contributing to strong relationships and project success
  • Support project delivery by coordinating across disciplines and agencies
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously raise design quality
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) (Maryland preferred)
  • 7+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, land development, or a related field
  • Strong foundation in site planning, site analysis, and urban design principles
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Micro Station, Sketch Up, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. (Experience with Enscape and Land F/X is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Maryland permitting processes (Baltimore City experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with the Maryland Forest Conservation Act and native/adaptive plant materials in the Northeastern region
  • Clear communicator with strong problem‑solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
Field & Site Work

This role includes regular opportunities for fieldwork and site visits, which may involve extended periods outdoors (up to 8 hours), uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions—balanced with office‑based design and coordination work.

Why Join STV
  • A collaborative, people‑first culture grounded in multidisciplinary expertise
  • Clear pathways for professional growth, mentorship, and leadership development
  • Exposure to a broad range of project types and clients
  • The opportunity to shape places that make a lasting, visible impact on communities

If you’re motivated by meaningful work, value strong collaboration, and want to grow your influence as a landscape architect, we encourage you to apply—even if your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement.
