Our award‑winning portfolio within the Buildings Division includes architectural assignments within the Transportation, Educational, Institutional, Justice and Industrial market sectors. We currently have an opening in our Owings Mills, MD practice for an Intermediate Architect with our Buildings division. Candidates with Transportation‑related experience are highly desirable.
The candidate should be a self‑starter with a passion for problem solving, a belief that project success comes through teamwork, and a firm focus on client needs. This role emphasizes design management, production, and delivery, allowing professional and personal development. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated with a solid technical foundation for independent work, and is supported in pursuing licensure and local professional organization involvement.
Other responsibilities include:
Prepares Architectural; mentors’ younger staff; performs analysis of design and construction systems; completes planning studies; oversees preparation of design layouts and construction details. Oversees research used in writing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers. Conducts site and construction inspections for information‑gathering purposes, preparing interpretive reports. Executes code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions. Analyzes design and construction systems, design layouts and construction features, which require researching, compiling and recording information for assigned project work.
Duties
- Assists in conceptual design for various types of facilities.
- Participates collectively with multiple design disciplines to develop technical approach and design criteria for projects.
- Coaches junior architectural staff.
- Performs independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis.
- Develops design details, plans, and writing specifications.
- Contributes new designs or techniques of material significance for solving important problems.
- Remains current in codes and technologies appropriate to the architecture discipline including IBC, NFPA, etc.
- Participates in meetings with clients to discuss project scope and progress.
- Participates in presentations to clients and other key stakeholders.
- Assists with developing technical proposals and cost proposals.
- Assists in developing project schedules and monitors and reports on deliverable progress, schedule, and budget status.
- A Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of experience within numerous market sectors, with specific emphasis on mass transit desired.
- Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams from conceptual design through construction documentation.
- Professional registration is highly desirable.
- Extensive professional Revit Architecture and BIM 360 experience required.
- Experience with Autodesk products, Enscape, Bluebeam, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite required.
- LEED accreditation or an equivalent sustainability credential is also a plus.
- Excellent design, technical detailing and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual.
$88,777.71 – $. STV is committed to paying all employees in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner. The listed pay range is STV’s good‑faith salary estimate for this position. Please note that the final salary offered may be outside of this published range based on factors such as geography, education, experience, and/or certifications.
