Interior Designer
Job Description
This Interior Designer role is all about bringing thoughtful, community-centered spaces to life across public and civic projects-think libraries, offices, and mixed-use environments. You'll partner closely with architects and project teams to shape cohesive, engaging interiors from early concepts all the way through construction.
It's a great mix of creativity and hands-on production work, where you'll dive into detailed documentation, renderings, and construction support-primarily for ground-up projects. If you enjoy seeing your designs move from idea to reality, this role offers that full-project experience.
Responsibilities
+ Team up with architects and project partners to dream up and develop interior design concepts for civic and public-facing spaces like libraries, offices, and mixed-use buildings.
+ Put together thoughtful space plans, finishes, color palettes, and FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) selections that bring each project together.
+ Create detailed drawings, construction documents, and polished presentation materials using Revit and other design tools.
+ Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations that help clients clearly see and connect with the design vision.
+ Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure the design intent is carried through accurately during construction.
+ Visit project sites and support construction administration, helping troubleshoot and keep things aligned with the design.
+ Assist with selecting, documenting, and coordinating FF&E across a variety of project types.
+ Support a diverse project portfolio, with a strong focus on ground-up civic, municipal, and commercial work.
+ Collaborate closely with both the interiors team and architectural staff to deliver cohesive, community-focused designs.
+ Contribute to presentations by creating engaging visuals, boards, and digital content using Adobe Creative Suite and related tools.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
+ Professional interior design experience-ideally within civic, institutional, or public projects. Around 5+ years is a plus, but strong candidates with less experience are absolutely encouraged to apply.
+ Strong Revit skills, especially for design development and construction documentation on civic, municipal, or commercial projects.
+ Experience putting together construction documents and supporting construction administration efforts.
+ Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for polished presentations and visual storytelling.
+ Working knowledge of Sketch Up for 3D modeling and design visualization.
+ Familiarity with AutoCAD for drafting and documentation.
+
Experience with rendering tools like Enscape or Lumion to create compelling visuals.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills-you're comfortable sharing ideas and collaborating with both internal teams and clients.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
+ A genuine passion for community-focused design and an interest in civic and public spaces.
+ A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ NCIDQ certification-or currently working toward it-is a nice bonus.
+
Experience with public safety projects, libraries, offices, or mixed-use spaces is highly valued.
+ Familiarity with ground-up project workflows from concept through construction is helpful.
+ Comfort balancing both creative design work and detailed production tasks.
+ Interest in working closely with a lead interior designer who is NCIDQ-certified and invested in mentorship.
+ Excitement about joining an award-winning firm known for its strong culture and standout design work.
Work Environment
You'll be based in a brand-new office located right off a major highway, with free on-site parking to make your commute easy.
