Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare across Southern Maryland. With 9 clinical sites across Prince George's, Charles, and St. Mary's counties, we serve over 18,000 patients each year. We provide fully integrated care that includes primary care, pediatrics, women's health, Title X family planning, dental care, behavioral health, WIC, pharmacy services, and the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program.

Job Summary

The Infectious Disease Physician provides comprehensive consultative and direct patient care for individuals with acute and chronic infectious diseases. As part of our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the physician collaborates with primary care providers, behavioral health professionals, pharmacists, nurses, and care management staff to improve health outcomes for diverse and underserved populations. The physician is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing infectious diseases while promoting prevention, education, quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Diagnose, manage, and treat a broad spectrum of infectious diseases in an outpatient setting, serving as the lead clinical expert for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, STIs, latent tuberculosis, and complex recurrent infections.
• Program Growth & Clinical Consultation: Provide peer-to-peer clinical consultation to primary care providers across all GBMS health centers; actively support the clinical expansion of Ryan White HIV/AIDS services, PrEP/PEP access, and Hep C direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatment workflows.

  Partner closely with clinical pharmacy on medication management, Ryan White and 340B formulary alignment, and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives; coordinate with medical case management to maximize patient retention and viral suppression.
• Provider Education & Clinical Guidance: Keep clinical staff informed of evolving CDC, NIH, and IDSA guidelines through structured case reviews, clinical updates, and staff education sessions.
• Quality & Compliance: Maintain timely, complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR); participate in peer review, clinical quality improvement (QI) initiatives, and HRSA, CMS, and HIPAA compliance protocols.
• Community Engagement: Represent GBMS as a clinical subject matter expert in public health outreach initiatives and regional infectious disease coalitions as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school; completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Disease fellowship.
• Licensure & Certification:
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland (or active eligibility).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease.
  • Active Federal DEA registration and Maryland CDS.
  • Active BLS certification.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience managing HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and related conditions in diverse, medically underserved communities.

Preferred Qualifications

• American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) Specialist certification.
• Direct experience working within an FQHC, Ryan White-funded program, or community health setting.
• Working knowledge of 340B pharmacy programs and Ryan White Part A/B/C/D reporting metrics.
