The University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. is seeking a full-time faculty neurologist to join the Department of Neurology. This position will be based at UM Capital Region Health in Largo, Maryland, and will primarily focus on providing high-quality outpatient neurological care to patients in the surrounding community.
The University of Maryland, School of Medicine - Department of Neurology is a comprehensive academic department dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, and research. Our faculty provide evaluation and treatment for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), migraine, and other complex neurological conditions.
The Department offers a full continuum of neurological care through its inpatient, consultative, and outpatient services, including a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level 4 Epilepsy Center, Neuro-Critical Care Unit, and comprehensive outpatient programs. Our multidisciplinary approach provides patients with access to advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitation services.
The Department also maintains a strong commitment to advancing neurological care through research and clinical innovation. Faculty are actively engaged in federally funded research and clinical trials investigating new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders, including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental conditions.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outpatient neurological evaluation and treatment, including performing patient examinations, developing diagnoses and treatment plans, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, and providing ongoing management of patients with neurological conditions. Additional responsibilities may include participation in departmental, educational, and academic activities, as appropriate to the position.
We are seeking a collaborative and patient-focused neurologist who is committed to providing outstanding neurological care and contributing to the continued growth of neurology services at UM Capital Region Health.
Salary range $ - annual
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEDoctoral degree in Medicine in the area of specialty
3-5 years of clinical experience
CPR required
BLS required
ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department
Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty
Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and/or publishing
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age-specific needs. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, patients’ families, departmental units, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
