The Assistant Principal for Discipline and Classroom Management supports the Principal in promoting a positive school culture, ensuring consistent and mission-aligned discipline practices, and strengthening classroom management across all grade levels (PK-8). This role emphasizes student formation, restorative practices, and instructional support to help teachers create structured, engaging, and faith-filled classrooms where all students can thrive.
The Assistant Principal serves as a visible leader, collaborative partner, and pastoral presence for students, staff, and families.
Student Discipline & School Culture
- Implement and oversee the school's discipline policies in alignment with the Catholic mission and student handbook.
- Respond to student behavior concerns with consistency and fairness, emphasizing growth, accountability, and reconciliation.
- Utilize restorative practices and reflective interventions to support student learning and character development.
- Maintain accurate documentation of behavioral incidents and disciplinary actions.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with parents regarding student behavior and expectations.
- Monitor common areas (hallways, cafeteria, recess, arrival/dismissal) to ensure student safety and appropriate conduct.
- Support school wide initiatives that promote respect, responsibility, and perseverance.
- Support teachers in developing and maintaining effective classroom management strategies.
- Provide coaching, modeling, and feedback on proactive behavior management and student engagement.
- Assist with classroom observations and follow-up conversations related to student behavior and the learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers to address ongoing classroom challenges and implement intervention plans.
- Support new and struggling teachers with clear expectations, practical strategies, and consistent follow-through.
- Assist the Principal with daily school operations, including supervision, scheduling, and coverage as needed.
- Support the implementation of school policies and procedures across grade levels.
- Participate in data-informed discussions regarding student behavior trends and interventions.
- Collaborate with support staff, interventionists, and counselors to meet student needs.
- Assist with emergency procedures, safety drills, and crisis response.
- Model Catholic values in leadership, decision-making, and interactions with students and adults.
- Support faith-based discipline practices that emphasize dignity, forgiveness, and personal responsibility.
- Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Represent the administration at school events, meetings, and activities as needed.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in educational leadership or a related field preferred.
- Valid Maryland teaching certification required; administrator certification preferred or willingness to pursue.
- Prior teaching experience required; administrative experience preferred.
- Strong background in classroom management and student discipline.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate behavior supports (PK-8).
- Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission of the Church.
- Calm, consistent, and fair approach to discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust with students, staff, and families.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.

Pay Range: $60,000 - 65,000, Annualized
