Job Description Summary
Responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of all learning activities in any given course. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, curriculum design, and other activities that contribute to the department, division, and College.
The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Division Dean, EVP/Provost, or the President or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art or a master's degree in any related field of Art and fifteen (15) graduate-level credits in applied Art.
* Satisfactory completion of 30 semester hours or more in an accredited doctoral program in Visual Art may, at the discretion of the Vice President, be determined to meet this requirement.
* Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience, preferably at the college level.
* Experience implementing high-impact teaching practices preferred.
AREA SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
* Responsible for teaching art courses, including, but not limited to, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Two-Dimensional Design, and Introduction to Art.
* Knowledge of art studio practices.
* Knowledge of studio safety practices.
* Extent of college-level teaching experience in Life Drawing, Drawing and Painting studio courses.
* Currency in professional discipline through exhibition records, awards and residencies, scholarly presentations, attendance at conventions such as CAA Advancing Art & Design, or specific courses taken for professional development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Plan, organize, and teach curriculum content in support of course outcomes.
* Using applicable technology and andragogical principles, teach course content via an appropriate delivery format (may include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote instruction).
* Complete mandated institutional trainings and professional development as required.
* Follow department and division requirements for preparing a course syllabus.
* Facilitate appropriate instructional activities that promote student engagement and learning.
* Evaluate student performance using assessment tools as directed by the department, where appropriate; inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
* Provide an orientation at the first class meeting to include (as applicable) an overview of the course syllabus, an outline of course objectives, course requirements, grading system, textbook(s), and supplemental materials.
* Notify students of key dates and course adjustments.
* Comply with attendance and grading requirements as established for the course (may include maintaining an up-to-date electronic grade book and entering final grades by the established due date).
* Maintain accurate class records; submit required class records by the established due date.
