Position: HVAC Instructor at WTHS 06-08-2026
Location: Newark

POSITION:
Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Instructor at Worcester Technical High School.

This position instructs high school students in courses covering job safety as well as theory and practical knowledge of basic heating and air conditioning systems. The instructor will prepare students for the National Center for Construction Educational Research (NCCER) + OSHA 30 and/or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) national certification. In addition, the instructor will maintain accurate educational records to track student achievement of desired program outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

* Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to the teaching and learning of HVACR skills and content.

* Implements established curriculum with rigor and support.

* Maintains strong relationships with industry (employers/businesses) who serve as work-based learning and apprenticeship partners.

* Coordinates and leads Program Advisory Committee for HVACR with at least two meetings annually.

* Maximize instructional time and guide students toward successfully achieving the industry-recognized EPA 609 certification.

* Employs instructional methods and materials that support curriculum objectives.

* Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and maintains accurate records.

* Participates in all ongoing professional development, including participates in ES9 regional professional learning.

* Responsible for maintaining current licensure, and certification related to HVACR teaching in the State of Maryland.

* Willing to collaborate with other teachers on trades-oriented and community CTE projects.

* Vision and willingness to explore, design, and eventually scale a school-based enterprise, leveraging the HVAC program to create a self-sustaining business model.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* At a minimum, candidates must possess a high school diploma and have at least three (3) years of satisfactory occupational experience directly related to HVAC or HVACR.

* Possession of a current EPA Section 609 Certification

* Eligibility for state career and technical education (CTE) or teacher licensure

* Familiar with Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA) safety standards.

* Possess leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.

DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

This is a 10-month position. Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale.
