Educational ASL Interpreter

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Educational ASL Interpreter for an onsite position in the Chestertown, Maryland area. This opportunity is within the education industry and supports a student's access to classroom instruction through skilled interpretation services. The interpreter will work closely with school staff to ensure effective communication and meaningful participation throughout the school day. This is a full-time, contract role for the  school year.

This position offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, beginning August 24, 2026, and continuing through May 2027. The assignment involves a 1:1 caseload with an elementary student who will be transitioning into the district for the upcoming school year. The interpreter will play a key role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities will extend across instructional and potentially extracurricular settings, depending on the student's daily schedule.

Responsibilities
Provide accurate and effective American Sign Language interpretation for a student in a classroom setting. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student comprehension and engagement. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards while facilitating communication between the student and others. Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the academic and developmental needs of the student throughout the school day.

Requirements
It is preferred that candidates are licensed with RID or hold an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher. However, the district will consider all ASL fluent candidates who have prior experience in educational interpreting, and such applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a school-based environment and collaborate with educational teams. Strong communication skills and experience supporting students in academic settings are highly valued.

The pay range for this position is $30 to $45 per hour, depending on experience, certification, and qualifications.
