Location: Saint Michaels

The Workshop Educator is instrumental in promoting CBMM’s mission through high quality educational programming that engages the public through projects in a safe and hands on workshop environment. CBMM is committed to creating engaging, immersive, and transformative experiences that educate and inspire individuals throughout the Chesapeake Bay region and beyond, and the Workshop Educator makes these experiential learning opportunities come alive.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop hands on workshops that feature engaging projects to build technical skills for target audiences, including youth, families, and lifelong learners

Provide clear and engaging age appropriate instruction for participants on the safe and proper use of related tools and techniques

Monitor and assist participants to ensure adherence to safety guidelines during all workshop activities

Coordinate with CBMM staff to ensure the availability of necessary materials and tools for each workshop session

Ensure the cleanliness all workshop spaces before, during, and after programs and conduct regular checks on equipment to maintain functionality and safety

Support workshop programs by communicating with registrants to prepare for programming and maintaining attendance records

This position is part time, hourly, based on the demand for CBMM’s workshops. Depending on the workshop audience, programs may be scheduled throughout the week, during daytime and/or evening hours.

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Personal or professional experience in one or more disciplines: woodworking, boat building, carpentry, leather working, metalworking, environmental design, or other related technical skills.

Previous instructional experience in a formal or informal learning environment preferred.

Enthusiastic, adaptable, and safety minded individual with an ability to build positive connections with workshop participants

Physical ability to work with students on CBMM’s 18 acre campus, exhibits, boats, and docks, in varied weather conditions.
