Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Newark, MD
Location: Newark

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Teacher. This role is essential in providing continuity and specialized instruction during a teacher's leave, ensuring students continue to thrive academically and personally.

As an advocate and resource, you'll play a key role in the educational journey of students with hearing differences. Your expertise will help foster a learning environment that is accessible, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials preferred)
  • Experience supporting K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong knowledge of current best practices in deaf education, including assistive technologies
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies for different learning styles and communication modalities (ASL, oral, cued speech, etc.)
  • Exceptional collaborative, organizational, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver instruction and provide support for students with hearing differences across content areas
  • Develop and implement individualized education plan (IEP) goals in partnership with families and school teams
  • Consult with general educators and related service providers to ensure accommodations and modifications
  • Provide resources and guidance to staff and parents, promoting inclusion and awareness
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed for optimal outcomes
