Teacher - Multilingual Learners (MLL) (NCHS) Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school system by delivering instructional programs to Multilingual Learners (MLL) effectively to ensure student achievement.

• Hold or be eligible for a Maryland educator certificate in the appropriate area (ESOL PreK-12).
• Dual Language (bilingual) in English and Spanish preferred.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
• Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents and staff.

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the MLL students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the MLL students.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate superior.
• Encourage MLL students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process for MLL students toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of MLL students.
• Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of the MLL students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Emulate the highest professional ethics and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay &

Hours:

This position is a 10-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Teacher Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities related to this position.
