Assist the Program Director in the operations of the before and after care program for school age children; implement activities to ensure the Caliday mission, vision and values are upheld, and the children are provided with a safe and learning environment. Provide support and direction to the teacher assistant.
Essential Functions- Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE‑OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
- Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
- Implements activities that are age‑appropriate and stimulating in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum; manages effective classroom management.
- Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
- Maintains open and effective communication with team, parents and school community.
- Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
- Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the other team members to resolve.
- Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.
- AA or bachelor’s degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies, or a similar discipline, OR 45 clock hours of Child Development (birth through school‑age) and 45 clock hours of Curriculum for School Age Care.
- 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training certificate, Basic Health and Safety training certificate, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
- Required to have 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.
