Adjunct Faculty – Equine Courses
We are looking for adjunct faculty to teach the following courses on campus:
- Equine Care & Handling – Tuesdays 6:00‑8:50 p.m.
- Equine Nutrition – Wednesdays 6:00‑8:50 p.m.
- Equine Pathology – Mondays 6:00‑8:50 p.m.
The semester runs 8/31/26 through 12/18/26.

Contract employee hired to teach specific course(s) during an academic term on a part‑time basis. An Adjunct Faculty member is not eligible for benefits.
Employment Terms
: Fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Adjunct Faculty may teach no more than 26 credit hours per fiscal year. Adjunct faculty will receive a master adjunct contract and a course‑specific contract that lists the faculty member’s name, employee number, contact information, course number, title, credit hours, dates, account code, and payment amount.
- Convey course material so students attain the instructional objectives.
- Complete a course assessment if requested by the Department Chairperson.
- Ensure all course material is available to students on the first day of class via Cecil College’s Learning Management System.
- Meet program‑specific requirements for employment and supervision of students in any externship or capstone course.
- Hold classes for the full amount of specified time. Notify the Academic Affairs Office if an urgent reason to miss class.
- Be reasonably accessible to students via email or in person, returning assignments in a timely manner.
- Hold office hours before or after class, a minimum of 30 minutes per week. Advising modality should match teaching modality.
- Facilitate quality learning experiences for students.
- Develop and implement classroom lesson plans and learning activities, including lectures, videos, demonstrations, and role‑play.
- Teach specified hours or contact hours per week as assigned.
- Assist with student remediation.
- Use the College’s Academic Monitoring and Learning Management System to document attendance and grades per Cecil College procedures; submit grades and all other end‑of‑semester documentation in a timely manner.
- Use the college‑assigned email account for all college communications and check it daily.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Prior teaching experience in a college/university setting, preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e‑mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Ability to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
This position requires sedentary work, including lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasional lifting or carrying of small items. Walking and standing are occasionally required.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in typical office or meeting and training rooms; normal safety precautions are observed, including safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations.
