Home And Hospital Teacher
Under direction of the Student Services Department, provides short-term instructional services to public school students at home, in hospitals, or community settings, who are unable to participate in their school of enrollment due to a physical or emotional condition. Calvert County Public Schools teachers may also serve as home and hospital teacher outside of their regular contracted work hours.

Experience:
At the time of application, the candidate must have:
- Bachelor's Degree, required.
Knowledge, Abilities, and
Skills:
- Experience working with children, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions.
- Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion.
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the responsibilities listed below.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Job Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties:
- Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students temporarily placed in a hospital setting or temporarily placed on home schooling.
- Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of students.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcome.
- Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
- Communicates and interacts with student and parent/guardian, as well as communicates and interacts with hospital staff, Department of Student Services, and the students' home school, as appropriate.
Other Duties:
Performs related work as required or assigned by the Director of Student Services or Designee.
Physical Demands:
Position may require significant periods of standing and walking.
Unusual Demands:
Employee must provide travel to various locations (student's home, hospital, or community setting) as this is an itinerant position. May be subject to flexible hours.
Terms of Employment:
Ten-month position, availability of hours based on student need. Rate of pay, $30.00/hr.
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by Calvert County Public Schools.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
