The Barrie School athletic staff is dedicated to creating a safe, challenging, and enjoyable experience for athletes. Athletic personnel meet the expectations of Barrie School’s athletic department. They secure all required certifications, training, and clearances. Athletic staff adhere to Barrie's Essential Duties of An Athletic Coach. In addition to those responsibilities, other core competencies of this position are:
- Program Support & Strategy – Support the head coach in executing their vision. Assist in the execution of daily practice plans, gameday operations, and off-season training programs that support players' technical, tactical, physical, and psychosocial growth. Reinforce team rules, culture, and behavioral expectations aligned with school policies. Help with equipment and uniform inventory.
- Volunteer Management – Help with recruitment and retention of community volunteers and aid the head coach in holding them accountable for support across the program.
- Player Assessment & Development – Support the head coach with constructive performance feedback and formal evaluations to athletes throughout the season. Help monitor athletes' academic progress, attendance, and school conduct.
- Recruitment & Community Outreach – Actively promote the sport program within the school to maximize student participation. Work with the head coach to build relationships with local middle schools and youth club organizations to develop a sustainable talent pipeline.

- 10 week season (Aug 24 to November
6) - Lead 4 skills based sessions a week for middle school players from 2:45-3:45pm (M, T, TH,
F) - Support the transition to varsity team practices starting at 3:45pm
- Approximately 10-12 games
All coaches must be trained, certified, or cleared in the following:
- Background Screening
- CPR, First Aid, and AED
- Concussion in Sports
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporting
- Transportation Safety (able and willing to drive minibus to games)
Note: These certifications are offered through Barrie School free of charge.
