Resident Substitute Teacher
The Resident Substitute Teacher will be assigned to a specific school location and work daily. The Resident Substitute Teacher will be placed into positions each morning that were not filled with daily substitutes. The selection of substitutes shall be made on the basis of academic training, certification status, past teaching experience, a structured interview, and recommendations. Group A:
Teachers holding a bachelor's degree who are or have been fully certified in Maryland or another state, and retired teachers from Washington County Public Schools. Group B:
Individuals who hold a Bachelor's degree or above and do not have full certification in Maryland. Group C:
Individuals having less than a Bachelor's degree.
Terms
- A level: daily rate, $180 per day
- B level: daily rate, $153 per day
- C level: daily rate, $140 per day
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
- Available to work Monday through Friday
- Willing to accept placements in all grades and subjects
Role Responsibilities
- Make every effort to preserve the regular routine of the class, follow the plans designed by the classroom teacher and perform such duties as required.
- Attend special orientation sessions provided by the school system and such meetings as requested by the school administration.
- Complete reports that are requested or required by the school.
- Notify the Human Resources Office immediately if he or she is no longer available for substitute work.
- Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Engage in extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Move comfortably throughout the building and grounds to fulfill various responsibilities.
- Utilize sensory skills to communicate and interact effectively, including seeing, reading, hearing, and talking.
- Maintain emotional control and composure under stress.
- Travel district-wide, as needed, to participate in professional learning and other activities.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and work extended or irregular hours when necessary.
