Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional programs effectively to ensure student achievement.

Qualifications
  • Hold or be eligible for a Maryland educator certificate in the appropriate area (World Languages PreK-12; Spanish 7-12; French 7-12).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
  • Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents and staff.
Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request by immediate superior.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the district's philosophy of education.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess students' accomplishments on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order in the classroom fairly and justly.
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain a professional deportment and appearance.
  • Emulate the highest professional ethics and practices.

Pay

& Hours

This position is a 10-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Teacher Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities related to this position.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $61,050 to $104,400 Per Year
