This position is with Prince George’s County Public Schools at the William S. Schmidt Outdoor Education Center.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Outdoor Education Specialist works with PGCPS students and teachers K – 12 to develop the knowledge, skills and strategies needed to make informed decisions related to environmental matters. The Outdoor Education Specialist will implement an environmental literacy and outdoor education program that reflects the mandate set forth in MSDE Environmental Literacy Graduation requirement and will work with students, teachers and partners to increase achievement through modeling, training and support.
This position supports classroom teachers, students and parent volunteers in the planning, development and implementation of residential and day environmental outdoor education experiences.
- Facilitates and coordinates the on‑site residential program at the Outdoor Education Center; this requires a minimum of two overnight stays per week at the Outdoor Center. The specialist does not leave campus during this time, however does receive breaks;
