Title I Elementary Mathematics Instructional Coach – 198 – Grant Funded at PES
Essential functions include:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive mathematics program designed to improve student achievement
- Work with the Coordinator of Mathematics and principal to plan for and provide effective professional development on the content and best instructional practices of mathematics education
- Support the implementation of WCPS mathematics initiatives and programs
- Assist in grade-level support of the mathematics program which may include extended day hours
- Collect, analyze and use data to inform instructional decisions for the mathematics program
- Work side-by-side with teachers in a coaching/peer collaborative model to reinforce content knowledge and teaching practices through the instructional coaching cycle structure
- Provide ongoing, on-the-job support to teachers implementing Main Lesson-Menu Lesson Instructional Framework
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities to collaboratively plan for instruction, unpack units, internalize lessons, and analyze formative and summative assessment
- Support teachers with implementation of the curriculum (iReady Classroom, K –
3) - Assist teachers with the implementation and tracking of mathematics Plans for Success and interventions
- Attend regular training sessions related to mathematics instruction and curriculum, including monthly instructional coach meetings
- Ability to help teachers deepen their conceptual understanding of MCCR content, skills, and practices using the WCPS curriculum
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to provide professional development
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Maryland College and Career Ready Mathematics Standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of current research and best practices in math instruction
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills and evidence of participation in recent professional development experiences in mathematics
Duty year and salary:
This is a 198-day grant-funded position. Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale.
