Job Description Summary
COAST Advisors facilitate recruitment efforts and coordinate programs and service delivery to eligible dual enrollment students and high school seniors within Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) and designated territories. Through various modalities and with the use of technology, advisors provide guided assistance and direct counsel to students and their families on every aspect of the college enrichment process from career exploration and development, scholarship and financial aid, placement and standardized testing, and the application and enrollment process in collaboration with pertinent offices from initial contact to registration for classes and successful transition to an assigned professional advisor.
Regular assessment will be required to measure the overall impact of the service to student success.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in student personnel services, higher education administration, social sciences or related field
* Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
* Experience making small group presentations.
* Experience providing direct service to a diverse population including disadvantaged students and/or students with disabilities.
* Experience training and coordinating efforts with faculty and staff for programming and planning activities or services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Facilitate on-going academic and student support using an intrusive case management approach, in the areas of dual enrollment, college readiness, and senior recruitment, to high school students, typically at designated PGCPS high schools.
* Facilitate marketing and recruitment efforts to obtain PGCC applicants and retain current students.
* Develop active, collaborative, effective working relationships and programs with PGCPS, community, parents, and college personnel who are critical to student success.
* Obtain ongoing data collection to initiate, discuss, implement, and assess timely strategies to improve student success for targeted high school students.
* Regularly attends parent, teacher and community engagement opportunities related to designated high schools to market, recruit, and disseminate academic and career readiness information.
* Advise dual enrollment students on program requirements and course eligibility.
* Engage in retention activities to support student success in dual enrollment courses
* Liaises between Dual Enrollment Program Manager and TLSS on course planning for Dual in the School and Hub School, as required.
* Travel within Prince George's County between assigned COAST school(s) and other relevant areas for student recruitment purposes, including college recruitment events.
* Acts as in-house college recruiter at assigned PGCPS COAST school(s)
* Manage recruitment and admissions communication from incoming freshman from assigned PGCPS COAST school(s)
* Provide first year course planning and registration support to incoming freshman from assigned PGCPS COAST school(s) and other first-time freshman during peak registration, as required
* Assist PGCC campus advising, career services, and/or enrollment services during PGCPS closings and during the months of June, July, August, and January with new student advising and registration. Assist and support the Office of Recruitment and Admissions with college-wide enrollment initiatives, such as open house programs, tele-counseling, special mailings, college fairs, high school/community visitation programs, and other functions as needed.
* Provide support to PGCPS/COAST students through involvement in meaningful and appropriate activities designed to develop cultural, social, educational and vocational experiences.
* Assist in the development and preparation of informational and marketing materials related to services and programming.
* Conduct workshops, information sessions and planning sessions related to college admission requirements, registration requirements, placement score interpretation, transfer student requirements, alternate instructional formats (online), and campus resources and services information.
