What the Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator does:

The Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator provides instructional leadership in language arts, reading intervention, curriculum alignment, and educational assessment. This role partners closely with teachers and school leadership to support student achievement through effective instructional practices, diagnostic assessment, progress monitoring, and data-informed decision-making.

This position also oversees school-based testing programs and library resources while providing direct instructional support to students as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides instructional coaching and support to teachers in language arts and reading instruction.
  • Models effective instructional strategies and interventions in classroom settings.
  • Trains staff on assessment administration, interpretation of results, and data-driven instructional practices.
  • Administers and interprets educational and diagnostic assessments to identify student needs and recommend instructional supports.
  • Provides individual and small-group reading intervention and supplemental academic instruction as needed.
  • Conducts educational evaluations and participates in assessment-related meetings.
  • Coordinates and oversees state assessment administration and testing compliance.
  • Aligns curriculum, assessment data, and supplemental reading programs to support student growth.
  • Supports implementation of behavior management systems and actively supervises students as needed.
  • Oversees library resources, instructional materials, and related program improvements.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support student achievement and IEP goals.
  • Attends team meetings and performs other duties as assigned.
What the Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator brings to the team:
  • Eligibility for an Advanced Professional License in Special Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful Special Education teaching experience
  • Experience administering, scoring, and interpreting educational or diagnostic assessments
  • Coursework and/or experience in reading intervention and remediation
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment-driven instruction
  • Excellent collaboration, coaching, and communication skills
  • Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, and/or special education needs strongly preferred
