POSITION:
Coordinator of Instruction

Digital Learning, Computer Science, and Technology Education

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Coordinator of Instruction for Digital Learning, Computer Science, and Technology Education provides leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of district initiatives related to digital learning, instructional technology, computer science, and technology education. The coordinator supports high-quality teaching and learning by leading curriculum development, professional learning, technology integration, program evaluation, and innovation while ensuring alignment with district priorities and state requirements.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
  • Leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of district initiatives related to digital learning, instructional technology, computer science, and technology education.
  • Develops and supports a district vision for effective technology integration by identifying, evaluating, and promoting instructional best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instructional resources, and programs within assigned areas.
  • Designs, coordinates, and facilitates professional learning that builds educator capacity in digital learning, instructional technology, computer science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
  • Develops and disseminates resources, guidance, and instructional supports that promote the effective integration of technology across curriculum and instructional programs.
  • Collects, analyzes, and utilizes program data to evaluate effectiveness, inform decision-making, and support continuous improvement of assigned initiatives.
  • Evaluates and recommends instructional technologies, digital resources, software, and equipment to support district instructional priorities.
  • Collaborates with district and school leaders, technology staff, community partners, institutions of higher education, the Maryland State Department of Education, and technology vendors to support implementation of district initiatives.
  • Maintains current knowledge of instructional technology, computer science education, artificial intelligence, applicable instructional technology frameworks, and state and national initiatives.
  • Supports district and school improvement efforts through instructional leadership, consultation, coaching, and implementation support.
  • Reports to the Chief Academic Officer(s) and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Maryland State Department of Education Administrator I certification.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of digital learning, instructional technology, computer science, technology education, curriculum development, and effective instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies, instructional technology frameworks, and applicable state and national standards.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY

This is a 12-month benefitted position paid from the Teacher Salary Scale plus responsibility factor and covered under the WCTA Negotiated Agreement.
