The Woodland Job Corps Center, located in Laurel, Maryland, sits on 33 acres of suburban land and is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the young people we serve. Our center provides students with the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or equivalent while gaining hands-on training in a variety of in-demand fields, including Culinary Arts, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, Hospitality, and Building and Construction.

About the Role As an Academic Instructor, you will play a key role in helping students achieve academic success and career readiness within our Career Education Center. You will deliver engaging instruction, provide individualized academic support, and help students progress toward GED/HSD completion while strengthening literacy and numeracy skills.

This is more than a teaching role—it’s an opportunity to mentor, motivate, and transform lives.

What You’ll DoDeliver engaging, student-centered instruction focused on GED/HSD completion and academic growth

Develop individualized learning and achievement plans for students

Provide case management to track progress and support student success

Integrate applied academics with Career Technical Training (CTT) programs

Maintain a structured, positive, and safe classroom environment

Support and enforce behavioral and academic standards

Mentor students using Career Success Standards (PRH guidelines)
Monitor, document, and report student progress with accuracy and integrity

Collaborate with instructors and staff across departments

Identify challenges early and implement effective solutions

Support overall center performance goals and student achievement outcomes

Experience in education, training, tutoring, or youth development preferred

Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required

Master’s degree preferredA valid Maryland teaching license is required and must be obtained to meet employment eligibility requirements

Previous teaching experience required
