Role Description The High School Social Studies Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Hanover, MD. This educator designs and delivers engaging lessons in Social Studies and World History, aligning instruction with the school’s academic standards and learning goals. Daily responsibilities include planning and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, providing timely feedback, and maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance.
The teacher supports diverse learning needs, manages classroom behavior, and fosters a respectful, inclusive environment. Additional duties include communicating regularly with families and colleagues, participating in school meetings and professional development, and contributing to extracurricular or school-wide activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Social Studies and World History, with the ability to connect historical events to contemporary issues.
- Experience in Curriculum Development and Education, including planning units, aligning lessons to standards, and using varied instructional strategies.
- Strong Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with students, families, and colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Ability to create an inclusive, student-centered classroom that supports diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Proficiency with educational technology tools for instruction, assessment, and communication.
- Collaborative mindset, strong organizational skills, and commitment to ongoing professional growth.
