Instructional Resource Teacher – Middle School

Job SummaryThis position supports the instructional goals of the school system by delivering effective instruction, mentoring staff, and working directly with students or small groups to enhance learning. The Instructional Resource Teacher may serve in classroom positions on a short-term or long-term basis as needed.

- Organize, supervise, coordinate, and establish priorities of tasks
- Work independently in the absence of detailed instructions and follow complex oral and/or written instructions
- Communicate courteously and tactfully with staff, students, parents, and the community
- Work under pressure with excellent time management and decision‑making skills
- Apply knowledge of function‑based, positive behavior support plans and protocols, and train staff and families
- Know the programs, policies, and procedures of St. Mary’s County Public Schools
- Direct and evaluate student learning experiences
- Guide students to promote educational development and welfare
- Plan and coordinate the instructional program in accordance with current curricula
- Deliver focused instruction to individual students or small groups
- Integrate technology in both virtual and in‑person instruction
- Assume major responsibility for instructional support of the school’s academic programs
- Support implementation of virtual instruction through modeling, coaching and professional development
- Facilitate collaborative team discussions and data‑based decision‑making sessions
- Collaborate with all staff and support service providers within the assigned school
- Provide leadership in program implementation and prepare required reports in a timely fashion
- Model and coach other staff members, focusing on identified high‑level skills essential for student success
- Mentor and support new teachers
- Work with other instructional staff to improve delivery of instruction
- Provide direct instruction to students for reading, writing, and other content areas through small‑group interventions or extension programs
- Assist classroom teachers with the administration and interpretation of formal and informal assessments
- Analyze data to impact instruction
- Participate in system‑wide professional development and share at the school level
- Conduct professional development and formal presentations on literacy and other content areas for parents, teachers, and colleagues
- Serve on the School Improvement Team or other school‑based leadership team
- Provide care and protection of school property
- Supervise student activity on school property
- Perform other related and nonrelated job duties as assigned
- Professional License/Certification
- Four (4) years successful teaching experience
- National Board Certified or Master’s degree or 30 semester credits post‑baccalaureate
- Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction or a related content area
Start date:
August 18, 2026
Full‑time, ten‑month position.
Salary range: $62,944 to $117,670 per year, based on the EASMC Teacher Career Ladder.
Bargaining unit eligibility: EASMC.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
