Location: Mount Airy

Discover an exciting opportunity to make a real difference as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in Frederick County. This full-time, contract position starts August 17th and extends through June 4th, providing you with the chance to empower learners and foster a positive, inclusive environment every day.

As a valued educator, you will work onsite with two engaging groups. One position is at Oakdale Middle School, managing a caseload of 15 students in the Learning for Life Program (schedule: 7:30 AM3:30 PM). The second position is at another site (TBD), where you'll work with a self-contained elementary classroom of 10 students (schedule: 9:00 AM3:30 PM). Both roles offer the chance to implement evidence-based teaching strategies, track student progress, and collaborate closely with fellow faculty and support staff.

Qualifications/Desired

Experience:
  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the appropriate age group
  • Previous classroom experience or student teaching in special education settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Skilled in differentiating instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom community
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging instruction tailored to individual student goals
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEPs according to student progress
  • Collaborate with related service providers, families, and administrative staff
  • Collect and analyze data to inform best practices and student growth
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and training as needed
