Associate LNG Technician; Instrumentation​/LNG Technician; Instrumentation​/Sr LNG Technician

Overview

BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity for an Associate LNG Technician (Instrumentation)/LNG Technician (Instrumentation)/Sr LNG Technician (Instrumentation) at our Cove Point facility located in Lusby, MD.

• Perform activities with a proactive and preventative maintenance approach based on industry best practices, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements (including FERC, PHMSA, NFPA, USCG, MDOL, MDE and EPA).
• Recognize the safety, environmental and facility reliability consequences of actions to maintain the highest levels of safety and environmental compliance.
• Work with Operations and Distributed Control System (DCS) teams to provide I&C technical expertise ensuring plant instrumentation, control loops, and monitoring systems meet operational needs.
• Respond to I&C related issues affecting facility operations, assist with start-ups, shutdowns, abnormal conditions, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
• Perform hands-on field work on complex I&C equipment: calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, diagnosing, and replacing or upgrading components as required.
• Conduct preventive, compliant and corrective maintenance on facility instruments using test equipment (digital multimeters, manometers, loop calibrators, gauges, etc.).
• Read, interpret, and maintain I&C drawings and configuration documents to ensure accuracy, traceability, and site-standard compliance.
• Submit drawing and configuration changes through the site modification and Management of Change (MOC) process in collaboration with the I&C Engineer.
• Support installation, testing, and startup of new instrumentation equipment.
• Attend required onsite and offsite training; complete self-study and qualification programs to maintain technical and safety certifications.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage assets, work orders, inventory, and scheduling with a proactive approach.
• Acquire understanding of all plant I&C equipment related to LNG Liquefaction, LNG Regasification, Ship Loading, and Power Generation processes.
• May assist in developing, implementing, and executing I&C policies and procedures.
• May be required to on-call and/or work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred: I&C craft, lead or supervisor experience or journeyman level or higher operations experience in LNG production/processing, power generation or petrochemical industries. Completion of a formal I&C craft training program is a plus. CEMS Experience, DCS Experience, Instrument Corrosion Technology experience, Startup/Commissioning experience, and Maximo/Oracle experience are also a plus.

Associate LNG Technician (Instrumentation)

• 0-2 years' experience in an industrial setting working in a mechanical field with hands-on craft experience.

LNG Technician (Instrumentation)

• Three (3) years of Instrumentation and Controls experience in an industrial setting.

Sr. LNG Technician (Instrumentation)

• Five (5) years' experience in an industrial setting in an Industrial and/or Controls role or similar field, including related military experience.
• Basic understanding of Distributed Control System (DCS) and LNG process systems.
• Basic understanding of plant utilities (air, water, power generation, sanitation and nitrogen).
• Applied knowledge of automatic control instruments (pressure, temperature, flow transmitters, gauges, regulators, valves, control systems).
• Experience performing preventive maintenance, testing, reading meters, and recording data.
• Previous work experience showing technical knowledge of control instrumentation.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations; ability to perform lab equipment calibration.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Analytical, written and oral communication, technical writing, instrumentation, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process problems.
• Recent LNG experience preferred; petrochemical NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
• Experience with CEMS or Gas Chromatograph equipment is a plus.

• High School Diploma (Preferred; Associate Degree preferred).
• Must apply for and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
• This role may require recommended test results from the EEI Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) if filled at Associate or Mid-Level.
