Senior Structural Engineer (10-15 years)

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player, able to work closely with the business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals, and take a proactive role in marketing and business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office.

The candidate will work directly with clients providing consulting services.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects
• Design steel, concrete, and masonry for commercial/institutional, federal and industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction
• Design experience with light gauge steel and timber is a plus
• Interpret technical drawings and lead design team efforts
• Manage project teams for budget and schedule control
• Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
• Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings
• Multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; understanding of databases and proposal resources
• Conduct marketing/business development activities
• Contribute positively to office and department goals, culture, and morale
• Ability to travel
• Coordinate work with Coffman offices (e.g., Raleigh, Atlanta) to complete projects

Education/Experience/Qualifications

• B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE)
• 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience
• Experience with software such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc, etc.
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills
• Project management experience and/or certifications
• Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
• Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
• Active local industry involvement is a plus

Compensation And Benefits

• Approximate Base Salary – 100K-150k
• Salary based on qualifications and relevant experience
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
• Competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
• Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)
• 401k with up to 5% matching for 9% employee contribution
