Position: INTERDISCIPLINARY MATERIALS ENGINEER/CHEMIS with Security Clearance
Location: Patuxent River

Duties Help
* You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the evaluation of materials, process and manufacturing efforts related to materials and processes used for materials protection.
* You will provide technical leadership for the planning, organizing, performing and documenting activities associated with development and application of materials and processes used for materials protection on all aircraft acquisition programs.
* You will research and study the structures and chemical properties of various natural and synthetic or composite materials, including metals, alloys, rubber, ceramics, semiconductors, polymers, and glass.
* You will determine ways to strengthen or combine materials or develop new materials with new or specific properties for use in a variety of products and applications.
* You will represent NAVAIR as a master of corrosion prevention and control at meetings and conferences with contractors and other Government activities by reviewing designs, test plans, materials development data, and specifications. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain any required certification and/or license as a condition of employment. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band DP-04 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. as a professional MATERIALS ENGINEER OR CHEMIST performing duties such as:
1) Leadership and Conflict Management skills are highly desired;
2) Ability to effectively communicate with others, knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and prevention and naval aviation systems acquisition;
3) Ability to lead a dispersed, multi-disciplinary team chartered with enhancing US Naval Aviation readiness through proactive measures to reduce corrosion related maintenance and failure modes;
4) Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills in addition to advanced problem solving skills;
5) Must have specialized corrosion experience, specifically material science, prior fleet maintainer, or RCM, is required;
