Aboutthe Position
The Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement (DPIE) is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer Reviewer III (Engineer Reviewer 3G) at grade G29 within the Building Plan Review Division. This senior‑level professional role focuses on the analysis of electrical engineering construction plans, schematics, and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations. Incumbents may lead the review of complex plans, applying advanced engineering principles and exercising extensive independent judgment under general supervision.
Examplesof Work
- Review plans, documents, and projects to determine if they meet required laws, regulations, and ordinances for electrical safety in accordance with the National Electrical Code and county code subtitle 9.
- Read, analyze, and interpret engineering plans, blueprints, specifications, and feasibility studies to become familiar with project scope, identify design problems or discrepancies, and determine compliance or non‑compliance with established codes, policies, and standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related scientific field (civil, environmental, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, or industrial).
- At least three (3) years of professional plans review work.
OR
- Seven (7) years of professional experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, or fire prevention work, including three (3) years of professional plans review work.
Preferred
Qualification:
ICC electrical plan review certification.
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate required proficiency.
- Use agency protective apparel and equipment as needed.
- Pass required pre‑employment checks, including reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
- Serve as an essential employee, reporting during required hours or emergencies.
- Maintain two applicable ICC certifications, including one in electrical plan review within 12 months of hire.
