We are seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer to work out of our Clarksburg, MD campus. This role will report directly to the Facilities Operations Manager and support the primary Clarksburg operations as well as surrounding subsidiary sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the planning, design, specification, procurement, construction, commissioning, and validation of facility infrastructure projects, including expansions, upgrades, reconfigurations, and new installations.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of critical building systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, plumbing, fire/life safety, BaS/Building automation Systems, clean rooms/utilities).
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, reliability-centered maintenance strategies, and predictive maintenance initiatives to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
  • Support capital and expense budgets for facilities projects and maintenance activities; prepare cost estimates, justifications, and ROI analyses.
  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, building codes, environmental standards, GMP if in regulated industries), internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures, system downtime, or operational issues; develop and execute corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (production, engineering, HSE, quality, project management) and external vendors/contractors to support facility needs.
  • Perform energy audits, identify efficiency improvement opportunities, and lead sustainability initiatives (e.g., reducing energy/water usage, implementing green technologies).
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior facilities engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and as-built documentation.
  • Support emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity planning for facility systems.

  • U.S. Citizenship Required. Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications – Fluent in English
  • High School/GED required, Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in facilities engineering, operations, or maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, fire/life safety, clean rooms, and BAS.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, building codes, GMP).
  • Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance and troubleshooting facility systems.
  • Ability to support capital projects, coordinate vendors, and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
