Staff Engineer, Systems Engineer

Location: Indian Head

ARA's team solves problems related to national defense and security. We are actively searching for Engineers from multiple disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Systems) to join our team. The Engineer will assist senior level engineer perform project engineering duties such as preparation of cost proposals, planning project execution, providing technical oversight and solutions, preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), preparing Quality Project Plans (QPPs) and Alternate Control Plans (ACPs).

Engineers will locate, review, and verify Technical Data Packages (TDP), MIL SPEC/MIL STDs and resolve technical issues by submitting and tracking Request for Variance(s) for OR-99s, and ORDALTS. Due to the nature of this work, candidates for this position must be US citizens residing within the US. This position is located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head (NSWC-IH) and will require you to be onsite.

This position does not allow for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

Employment is contingent upon the successful attainment of at least an Interim Secret clearance, granted by the sponsoring agency.

Staff Engineer Responsibilities Include

Research, develop, test, evaluate (RDT&E), manufacture and provide in service support of energetics and energetic systems. Working and partnering with subject matter experts to ensure safe and cost-effective execution of production capabilities for energetic materials and related applications (munitions, rockets, warheads, etc.).

* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.

* Work under supervised direction but ability to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.

* Continuous learning to develop and ensure technical competence.

* Ensure proper execution of the project including planning, scheduling, and procurements.

* Responsible for the implementation of safety and quality programs.

* Ability to manage and prioritize numerous assignments.

Staff Engineer Qualifications

* Bachelor's in engineering discipline or related with 2-4 of years of experience.

* Demonstrated ability to provide clear written and oral briefings including the ability to adopt content for specific audiences.

* Proven proficiency in a range of analytical and technical skills for the synthesis, monitoring, and scaling of energetic materials.

* Experience with process safety and material handling ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

* Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, dynamic environments, managing rapid changes in program scope, funding, and priorities.

* Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor presentations and reports to diverse technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced Degree in an engineering or related technical field is preferred.

* Experience with the production, handling, processing, and design of energetic materials related to defense applications.

* Process engineering and integration knowledge.

* Knowledge of quality requirements and system qualification.

* Active DOD or DOE security clearance.

Salary range: $87,000 - $115,000
