At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at NAS Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and is looking to hire a Mechanical Drafter II.
Position Type / Location / PayFull‑Time, Non‑Exempt | NAS Patuxent River, MD | $27.26/hr plus $4.93/hr Health & Wellness Benefit
Responsibilities- Create drawings and models that include various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details.
- Use conventional drafting and Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques.
- Maintain a working knowledge of drafting terms and procedures.
- Perform arithmetic computations using formulas.
- Execute familiar or recurring work based on general assignments.
- Make simple revisions to existing drawings or models with verbal instructions.
- Produce complex revisions from sketches, models, or specifications that clearly depict the desired product.
- Work performed in enclosed buildings.
- Work involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
- Shift hours: 0600‑1530 (first shift) and 1300‑2230 (second shift).
- High School diploma or equivalent plus completion of trade or technical school, or an undergraduate or military courses in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing.
- At least one year of experience performing the stated functions.
- Current driver’s license; must be insured under the company’s vehicle policy while operating work/government vehicles.
- U.S. citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to the start date.
