Duties, Responsibilities & OtherThe Senior Geologist provides advanced geological expertise to lead high‑impact remedial actions for public and private clients. This role involves leading environmental site assessments, interpreting subsurface data, guiding geological field programs, remedial design, and mentoring junior geologists. The Senior Geologist plays a critical role in project planning, technical analysis, and strategic decision‑making. This person must be a licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.).
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage geological field investigations, mapping, sampling, and data collection programs, including Phase II ESA environmental site assessments.
- Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to develop accurate subsurface models.
- Oversee multi‑media sample collection and processing – soils, groundwater, surface water, vapor, etc.
- Prepare and review geological reports, technical documentation, and regulatory submissions.
- Operate and maintain remediation facilities.
- Manage data tabulation and environmental data interpretation; develop maps, specifications, remediation designs, cost estimates, and reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations during field and office activities.
- Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, clients, or regulatory agencies.
- Train and mentor junior geologists.
Education and/or Work Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Geography, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and must be a licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.).
- Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring projects.
- A track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to environmental construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
