Engineer II/Sr Engineer/Sr Engineer II (Mechanical)
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Cove Point LNG facility located in Lusby, MD.
ResponsibilitiesA Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day operation, long‑term performance, and reliability of critical plant equipment. The role focuses on preventing equipment failures through condition monitoring, asset strategies and defect elimination. The candidate will also serve as a champion for reliability best practices and mentor others to build a reliability‑centered culture.
- Lead functional teams in the planning, design, procurement and construction of pipeline and/or compression projects for the BHE GT&S pipeline system.
- Provide technical oversight in all phases of projects and assist with internal training for engineers and technicians.
- Design and provide cost estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contract administration, cost analyses, inspections and maintenance.
- Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports.
- Support plant Systems and Processes: hose management, flange management, pressure equipment repair, welding & NDT, piping stress analysis and vibration management.
- Provide mechanical engineering support for day‑to‑day plant operations and long‑term reliability and availability targets, including frontline response for mechanical issues and failures.
- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical equipment (safety, cost, availability) through maintenance strategy optimization, root‑cause failure analysis, bad actor analysis, management of change and debottlenecking/efficiency optimization.
- Define and implement QA/QC programs for mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Participate in review and approval of engineering designs, modifications and repair plans.
- Develop and optimize asset strategies based on asset criticality.
- Execute strategic initiatives and capital projects to improve equipment reliability.
Engineer II
- 1–3 years of professional engineering experience.
- Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts and fundamental practices.
- Developmental experience in a professional engineering position.
- Competency in performing engineering calculations using applicable software programs.
- Planning, organizational, and project management skills.
Sr Engineer
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience (PE license preferred).
- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
- Advanced techniques and modification of theories, strong leadership, and team project lead experience.
- Guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
Sr Engineer II
- 8 years of professional engineering experience (PE license required) or 10 years for those without a license.
- Significant engineering knowledge of the natural gas industry related to pipelines, compressor stations and process equipment.
- Project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Critical thinking and decision‑making skills.
All Levels

- Computer skills and application of engineering software.
- Analytical, abstract thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
- Team work, leadership and rapid information processing.

- Must have a valid TWIC card or proof of application prior to employment.
Relevant education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge or experience in rotating equipment is a plus but not required.
