Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Environmental Compliance
Senior EHS Specialist
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies within Waters/BP. This role fosters a safe and healthy work environment and minimizes environmental impact.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT) and company standards.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and specialized safety topics.
- Manage and maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, training records, incident reports, and compliance data.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, equipment design, and facility modifications.
- Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, air emissions, and wastewater discharge, and ensure compliance with environmental permits.
- Lead emergency response planning and drills, including fire prevention, hazardous material spills, and medical emergencies.
- Stay current with new EHS regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continually improve EHS performance.
- Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5‑7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or life sciences environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Proficiency in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with ISO
14001 and OHSAS
18001 (or ISO
45001) standards preferred.
