Systems Manager - Overhead Catenary Systems; OCS

Overview

Systems Manager - OCS to join the Central Engineering team. This role drives the corporate adoption of engineering principles throughout the construction lifecycle.

• Work directly with project, field, and prefabrication management teams.
• Perform site surveys across all project phases.
• Provide accurate material takeoffs for the entire project.
• Review manufacturer submittal data for conformance to project specifications.
• Compose technical RFIs for submission and coordination with the Engineer-of-Record.
• Perform structural analysis related to pole loading and deflection.
• Complete final design of OCS structures including Cantilevers, Headspans, Downguys, balance weights, and conductor rail.
• Coordinate internal designs with prefabrication staff.
• Review designed and constructed elements with field installation.
• Resolve field installation issues through on-site visits, documenting findings.
• Notify project management of cost-incurring elements to the project team.
• Meet weekly with project staff, providing updates on scope status, percent complete, action items, and integration with others.
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager on strategy for multiple projects.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• Provide project closeout deliverables, including Structural Erection Diagrams.
• Perform engineering labor estimates for pursuits.
• Ensure ongoing adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements.

• 5-15 years in OCS construction, design, or operations.
• Experience in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, cutover, project management, and construction management for traction power and OCS systems.
• Experience in review of documents and preparation of technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs.
• Team Leader with ability to train and develop junior engineers.
• CAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Requires minimal training on software and QA/QC for submitted work.
• Knowledge of AREMA, IEEE, and NESC standards.
• Ability to read project specifications and blueprints.
• Minimum Qualifications:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (CA, MD, WA, TX preferred).
