Required
Skills & Experience:
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related ABET-accredited engineering discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
• Strong circuit troubleshooting and hardware debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and digital multimeters
• Solid understanding of embedded communication protocols including UART, SPI, I²C, and CAN
• Knowledge of control systems principles, including PID control loops
• Experience developing firmware and engineering tools using C/C++ and Python
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams
Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a TS/SCI Embedded Systems Engineer to support advanced defense technology development efforts in Aberdeen, MD. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting embedded hardware and firmware solutions that support mission-critical systems, autonomous platforms, and Counter-UAS technologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in embedded systems, circuit design, firmware development, and hardware debugging, with experience working across the full engineering lifecycle from concept through deployment.
This role requires a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced R&D environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Design and develop embedded hardware and firmware solutions
- Develop software in C/C++ and Python
- Troubleshoot circuits, electronics, and embedded systems
- Debug UART, SPI, I²C, and CAN communications
- Conduct hardware testing and validation
- Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test equipment
- Support PCB design and hardware bring-up
- Integrate microcontrollers and ARM-based systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
- Develop technical documentation and test plans
- Support rapid prototyping and system integration efforts
- Analyze and resolve hardware and firmware issues
- Contribute to Counter-UAS and autonomous system development
- Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities
- Support system deployment and lifecycle enhancements
$35/hr to $62/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
