Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Senior Wireless Signal Processing Engineer to develop cutting-edge algorithms and architectures for RF and wireless systems supporting national security, space, and health missions. You will design and simulate advanced waveforms, detection and estimation algorithms, and robust communications in contested environments; analyze real-world data; and help transition concepts to prototypes and fielded systems. Collaborate with leading experts in a mission-driven, highly collaborative culture with strong support for innovation, publication, and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced wireless signal processing algorithms for RF and communications systems.
- Develop models and simulations to evaluate link performance in complex and contested environments.
- Analyze real-world signal data to improve detection, estimation, and classification performance.
- Prototype algorithms in MATLAB/Python and transition implementations to real-time or embedded platforms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on national security, space, and related mission applications.
- Document designs, conduct technical reviews, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging wireless standards, waveforms, and RF technologies.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to proposal writing and research publications.
