Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Communications Engineer to design, analyze, and integrate advanced communications systems for national security, space, and health missions. You will develop link budgets, waveforms, and architectures for RF and digital communications, using modeling, simulation, and prototyping to validate performance. Working in APL's collaborative, mission-driven environment, you will partner with leading experts to solve complex real-world problems, support lab and field testing, and document and present technical results, while advancing your skills, research, and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze RF and digital communications systems for national security and space applications.
- Develop link budgets, waveform designs, and modulation/coding schemes for robust communications.
- Model, simulate, and prototype communication architectures using industry-standard tools.
- Integrate, test, and troubleshoot communications hardware and software in lab and field environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to meet mission requirements.
- Document designs, test results, and technical findings for sponsors and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to proposals, technical reports, and briefings for government and research partners.
- Stay current with emerging communications technologies and apply them to mission challenges.
