Financial Advisor / Consultant
Position Overview
Provide personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations.
Responsibilities- Deliver a full breadth of personal financial counseling, including one‑on‑one sessions, briefings, and presentations.
- Consult with commanders or other providers and coordinate referrals outside of counseling sessions.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and facilitate a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes such as web‑based chat or secure video teleconference, as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues.
- Engage in in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Constrained Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
- Bachelor’s Education – Preferred
- Associated or high‑school experience substitution options as noted above.
- Financial Counseling Work Experience – Required and Preferred

Driver license, valid in state
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 per year (actual pay may vary based on skills, experience, education, and other factors). The position may include short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package covering health, life, voluntary and other benefits.
