Position: PARALEGAL SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Andrews AFB

Duties Help
* Provides legal support for the Lead Special Trial Counsel and other Special Trial Counsel.
* Manages military justice database information and performs a broad range of military justice data retrieval and consolidation operations to deliver analyses, assignments, and communications. Assists OSTC personnel with collection of data related to violent criminal offenses and case outcomes, including results of federal court-martial trials.
* Manages the day-to-day administrative operations of OSTC, including records management, organizational email, Defense Travel System, Government Purchase Card and shared drive. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

* It is highly desirable that employee possess a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Paralegal Studies, or substantially similar law-related disciplines (cont.) * (cont.) or be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
* May be assigned additional duties as required.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (cont.) * (cont.) Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

* Must meet the requirements of Department of the Air Force Rules of Professional Conduct for paralegals. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS 0950 series. SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes mastery knowledge of and skill in applying the principles, law, procedures, processes, and methodologies of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the Manual for Courts-Martial, the Rules for Courts-Martial, the Military Rules of Evidence, or substantially similar United States criminal procedure statutes and rules as they relate to the disposition of covered offense cases, database operability, database code querying, data collection, statistical analysis, and analytical abilities.

OR

EDUCATION:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
