The Prince George's County Government Office of Homeland Security is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Investigator 2G position, grade G21, within its Office of the Director.

Positions designated as limited-term grant-funded are temporary in nature and the employment period is contingent upon the grant's continued funding availability.

This position performs professional-level administrative, supervisory and investigative work requiring independent judgement, advanced investigative expertise, and strategic oversight in support of County-wide goals and objectives. This position synthesizes and evaluates intelligence and operational information exchanges among critical infrastructure owners and operators, local governments, and partnering agencies. This incumbent will also be responsible for the lead role of assessing and interpreting complex critical infrastructure systems, identifying systemic vulnerabilities, and developing comprehensive risk and threat assessments to strengthen the County’s resilience continuity.

Work is performed extensively with the public, property/business owners, County agencies, and senior government officials. The incumbent is authorized to provide strategic recommendations, operational guidance, and investigative oversight to support informed decision making, regulatory compliance and protection of essential services and assets. This position reports directly to the Director, Office of Homeland Security.
This is an essential Public Safey Position.

The Office of Homeland Security (OHS) was developed as a result of legislation passed in 2003. This new agency incorporated critical emergency response entities that were previously part of other agencies. Public Safety Communications (PSC), which included all County 9-1-1, emergency dispatch and radio system support, had been part of the Office of Information Technology and Communications (OITC). The Emergency Management Division (EM) was within the Fire/EMS Department.

EM and PSC were combined under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Public Safety/Director of Homeland Security, forming the Office of Homeland Security. The legislation and resulting changes to the Charter, spelled out the separate and distinct missions assigned to EM and PSC.

• Assist with identifying vulnerabilities, threats, and overall risks originating from physical terrorist(s), and criminal attacks that could impact Prince George’s County.
• Prepare and assist with written intelligence reports on extremist groups, homeland security incidents, and related critical infrastructure sites.
• Assist with risk reduction strategies, guidance, and direction to critical infrastructure stakeholders to strengthen vulnerabilities at critical sites.
