Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Location: Prince Frederick
Job Title
Produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other areas as designated under the supervision of a medical technologist. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of techniques, principals and instruments and their inter-relationships as well as the physiological conditions affecting test results.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, or similar Bachelor of Science degree along with a certificate in Medical Technology (MT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or an Associate Degree in Medical Technology along with a similar Bachelor of Science degree. Students in their senior year of a Bachelors Degree in MT may be accepted.
Registration/Certification/Licensure: ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent, preferred. Registry or Certification is required before performing Blood Bank procedures or working alone.
Experience:
Position requires 0-6 months related experience. Clinical experience in the process of completing college course work may be accepted.
Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice. Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice. Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and in promoting a positive service atmosphere. Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment producing quality work.
