ALS Paramedic MS Transport

Med Star Health is actively seeking an ALS Paramedic who will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients with a range of needs from uncomplicated to complex during interfacility transport. In collaboration with the patient and family, the candidate provides theory‑based professional care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

Sign on Bonus!!

Bonus: $8,000 total with an 18‑month commitment. Payouts: $3,000 at start (paid upon successful completion of orientation/probation), $2,500 at 12 months, $2,500 at 18 months.

40 hours per week working 12‑hour shifts: 7 AM–7 PM, 7 PM–7 AM, 8 AM–8 PM, 8 PM–8 AM, 11 AM–11 PM. Staffing pattern: three shifts one week, four shifts the next, rotating between day and night, including every other weekend. Self‑scheduling available.

Report in/out of Clinton, MD (Med Star Southern Maryland Hospital Center) or Baltimore, MD (Med Star Harbor Hospital).

Required: NREMT National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians‑Paramedic;
Paramedic certified in DC or Maryland (or ability to acquire prior to start date);
MedSTAR Transport or Mid Atlantic Air Transportation Services affiliation; ACLS;
Basic Life Support;
Pediatric Advanced Life Support;
Advanced Trauma Life Support within 180 days; or one of the following within 180 days: TPATC, PHTLS, TNCC, ATCN; NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days; FEMA IS‑100 and IS‑200; valid state driver’s license with no more than four points; and completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.
Preferred: extended or advanced certifications not listed as required.

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Based on assessment of physical, emotional, biophysical, and spiritual needs, provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes, incorporating patient‑centered care principles. Communicates patient’s clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format; documents information accurately and completely.

Maintains a safe therapeutic environment, providing comfort measures and environmental support as needed. Provides emotional support to patients and families during illness crises and demonstrates patient/family advocacy. Delivers expert paramedic care to multiple patient types, including adult subspecialties and pediatrics. Collaborates with online medical‑control physicians to manage complex patient care in transport. Participates in orientation for new staff, safety management initiatives, MedSTAR Transport safety program, meetings, committees, and community outreach.

Engages in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Position salary range: USD $28.58 – $46.94 per hour.
