Job Description:
The School Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct supervision, support, and care to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing in Benedictine's residential program. Working in a residential setting, the DSP assists students with activities of daily living, skill development, behavioral support, recreational activities, and individualized goals while promoting independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life.

Work 26 hours and get paid for 35 hours!
Pay:
The pay for this position is $17.00 per hour. Employees also receive a $2.50 per hour shift differential for hours worked beginning Friday at 4:00 p.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m.
- Provide direct supervision and support to students in the residential setting.
- Assist students with activities of daily living including toileting, bathing, feeding, grooming, tooth brushing, and other personal hygiene needs while encouraging independence.
- Support students with daily chores, room organization, and upkeep of personal belongings.
- Assist students in participating in individual and group leisure activities while promoting engagement and independence.
- Teach and support goals and objectives outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Complete required documentation including Therap notes, Autism Waiver documentation, behavior tracking data, incident reports, and other assigned records within required time frames.
- Implement individualized behavior support plans and seek support from supervisory staff when necessary.
- Administer medications and provide health-related supports in accordance with training, certification, and nursing delegation requirements.
- Assist with transportation on and off campus as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, health needs, and daily activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized residential environment.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, appropriate social skills, and Benedictine's core values.
- Attend required trainings and maintain certifications necessary to perform job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED if 21 years of age or older. Applicants between the ages of 18 and 21 must possess an Associate's degree in Social Services or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient in computer systems and able to accurately enter and maintain required documentation.
- Must obtain and maintain Med Tech certification or be eligible for certification.
- Must obtain RCYCP Certification within 120 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, criminal background checks (CJIS/Family Law Article 5-561), and CPS clearance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and meet insurability requirements.
- Must be able to perform Safety-Care physical interventions, except for approved temporary or minimal restrictions authorized by the Behavior Department.
- Must be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds.
