ROLE SUMMARYThe Pharmacy Informaticist is the senior pharmacy informatics leader and carries patient-safety escalation authority for medication-related events. The role owns Cerner Pharm Net design, BD Pyxis Med Station integration, BCMA workflow governance, and pairs with the RN Informaticist on closed-loop medication administration. Pharmacy is a 24/7 medication-safety tower with high clinical consequence for errors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Own Cerner Pharm Net design, configuration, and workflow optimization across Power Orders, Pharmacy Verification, and Order Sentences.
- Carry patient-safety escalation authority for medication-related Sev-1 events.
- Govern BD Pyxis Med Station administration and integration with Pharm Net; act as Infinite-side liaison with the BD Pyxis vendor on escalations.
- Design and govern Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) workflow and safety controls; pair with the RN Informaticist on closed-loop verification.
- Govern formulary management, drug-drug interaction logic, and Multum drug content updates.
- Govern sterile compounding workflow and IV room software interfaces.
- Design Glucocommander IV and SubQ insulin dosing protocol integration where applicable.
BD Pyxis Integration (required)
BD Pyxis Med Station administration. Pyxis-to-Pharm Net interface configuration. Pyxis alert triage. Connectivity troubleshooting between Pyxis and Cerner.
BCMA and Medication Safety (required)Barcode Medication Administration workflow design across nursing administration scanning, pharmacy-verified orders, and Pharm Net-to-Power Chart documentation. Closed-loop verification governance.
ePrescribe and Bridge Interface (required)ePrescribe configuration and monitoring. Bridge Interface for outbound prescriptions. Surescripts integration awareness.
Sterile Compounding (required)Sterile Compounding Database support. IV room software interfaces. USP 797 and USP 800 awareness from an informatics perspective.
CCL Queries (preferred)Cerner Command Language queries against drug data for audit, reconciliation, and safety reporting.
