Social Worker​/Mental Health Professional

Job Title

Serves as part of the core team in assessing emergency psychiatric patients and works closely with providers and intra- and inter-departmental nursing staff to ascertain appropriate course of action. Position requires on-call work when necessary to answer questions and concerns and to cover staffing shortfalls. Assists in evaluating appropriate patients on various medical units when requested. Participate in required on-call and holiday coverage to support the operational and clinical needs of the EPS department.

Education:

Position requires graduation from an accredited Master’s Degree Program in a mental health discipline (i.e., social work, counseling, psychology). If an R.N., graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing is required.

Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Position requires LCSW or LCPC in the State of Maryland.

Experience:

Position requires a minimum of 6 months postgraduate clinical experience.

Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. Maintain the monthly EPS staff schedule and facilitate effective shift-to-shift communication, ensuring accurate handoffs regarding clinical and operational matters. Provide behavioral health clinical support across inpatient and outpatient settings, including patient evaluations, assessments, treatment planning, therapy, safety planning, discharge planning, and care coordination.

Provide staff training, education, and clinical support while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to promote quality care, continuity of services, and appropriate referrals. Monitor patient satisfaction and support performance improvement initiatives while effectively managing multiple priorities and exercising sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
