Description
Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a System Administrator 2 to support the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT systems across enterprise and mission‑focused environments. In this role, you will provide hands‑on support for system infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical IT services. The ideal candidate has experience supporting both Windows and Linux/UNIX environments, administering cloud‑based solutions in AWS, and contributing to Dev Ops‑driven operational processes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for IT systems and infrastructure.
- Monitor, manage, and maintain servers, storage systems, network devices, and mobile endpoints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support issues.
- Manage daily system operations, including configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
- Assist users with system access, account management, and technical support requests.
- Support escalated incidents by conducting detailed analysis, troubleshooting complex issues, and communicating status updates to stakeholders.
- Optimize system performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning activities.
- Configure, administer, and maintain Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.
- Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot operating system software and system components.
- Maintain network infrastructure components and implement enhancements to improve reliability, security, and performance.
- Support AWS cloud environments and assist with the deployment, automation, and maintenance of cloud‑based resources.
- Contribute to Dev Ops initiatives through scripting, automation, configuration management, and continuous improvement of system operations.
- Support hardware‑related issues and remain engaged through issue resolution and system restoration efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 10+ years of Systems Administration experience supporting programs or environments of similar scope and complexity; five (5) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level I certification (or higher) required.
- Hands‑on experience administering and troubleshooting Windows, Linux, and/or UNIX systems, including servers, storage, network infrastructure, and end‑user environments.
- Experience supporting AWS cloud environments and Dev Ops practices, including automation, scripting, system monitoring, and performance optimization.
- AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, Sys Ops Administrator, or similar).
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation, Jenkins, Git, or other Dev Ops toolsets.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies, containerization platforms, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
- Experience supporting secure government or DoD environments.
